Evergreen Mist

Oil on canvas

The American kestrel, also known as a sparrow hawk, is actually the smallest member of the falcon family. They have very keen eyes and flying skills. They are one of the few birds that can hover! Inspired by a favorite Japanese ink painting, I wanted to create a lush green backdrop to offset the warm, vibrant colors of the male kestrel.
