this little creative project which turns an ordinary Altoid mint box into a pocket-sized watercolor travel set
I am always on the lookout for money saving ideas for the artist. A couple of websites (links below) shared this little creative project which turns an ordinary Altoid mint box into a pocket-sized watercolor travel set…

altoid watercolor paint box

watercolor travel box by Nita Leland

Materials:

  1. Use an empty Altoid mint metal container
  2. Empty plastic ‘half-pan’ wells for the watercolor paint
  3. Hot glue gun
  4. Paint brushes (cut the handles to fit in box)
  5. Mini squeeze cosmetic bottle (for the water)

Easy Construction:

  1. Glue the empty half-pans into the box.
  2. Fill the wells with tube watercolors using a basic palette or customize it for your own specific palette.
  3. Let it all dry and you are ready to go!

Don’t forget to bring a small packet of travel tissue and watercolor postcards or a mini sketchbook! The whole mini watercolor travel set fits neatly in a plastic sandwich bag and costs around $5 (depending on the quality of brushes)!
Happy Travels!
