Summer is a busy, but fun time of year for me. If you’ve been wondering why I haven’t been blogging or tweeting as much, it’s because I have been traveling, and painting!
Each summer, Kneeland Gallery in Ketchum, Idaho, and Dana Gallery in Missoula, Montana, both include me in their plein air painting exhibitions. The invited artists are required to paint 8-10 new studio landscapes, and then we paint en plein air on location for 3 days. At the end of it all, each gallery hosts a fabulous artists’ reception.
I thought you all would enjoy seeing my new summer landscape oil paintings. I’ve been enjoying using a putty knife and palette knife along with paint brushes to create some interesting textural effects.

My favorite of the bunch is “Enchanted Evening.” And now I totally have that song in my head.
Hello Addie, I love that song! Glad you like the painting too…thanks so much for your input.

These are all incredibly lovely. I especially like “Rising Moon”. Something about this one really draws my eye to the muted colors and the mystical moonrise.
Thanks for sharing all of them!
Hello Stan, what a nice surprise! Thanks for the kind comment and I’m glad you told me your favorite. I saw this scene one evening, took an Instagram photo and then was so inspired, I painted it!

Lori – I’m so happy to see your work from the plein-air painting sessions. There is nothing that I love more than getting outside and directly connecting with the land. Always, there is something extra-special about works that are created onsite instead of in the studio. The work is fresh, full of memories, thoughts and experience…..all the best ways to bring some beauty into the world. Glad you’ve found time to escape Twitter and FB for awhile.
Hello Janice, I am so behind on comments! Thanks so much for your nice feedback. I truly means a lot coming from my talented friends like you!

Beautiful works! They are all fantastic, but my favorite is the one w/o a caption about evening storm – your lighting is very good.
I’ve enjoyed your wesite and blog – thank you for sharing your hints and tips, just what a new artist like myself needs. Thanks, Mary
Thank you so much Mary. So happy I am helping you.
Cheers,
