My newest still life painting, “First Signs of Spring” is currently on display in the ‘Icons of the West” invitational exhibition at Dana Gallery in Missoula, Montana.
The gallery asked the invited nationally recognized artists to create their own interpretation of a Western Icon, be it horses, cowboys, western landscapes, native American themes of the old west as well as visions of the new west.
For this show, I chose to painting a still life painting rather than a landscape. I wanted this still life painting to be a high-key painting (lighter in value) and picked an antique Native American Acoma canteen to set the western theme. The willow branches and black capped chickadee bird are common sites throughout the west. This painting is available for purchase at Dana Gallery - [email protected] (406) 721-3154.
This is the first in what Dana Gallery hopes to grow into a nationally recognized and anticipated event drawing art collectors from the region and the nation to Missoula. Dana Gallery wishes to continue to demonstrate that they are a major presence in the art scene.
