Having just stepped off the plane yesterday from my vacation in New Zealand and Australia, I am jumping in my car and will be ‘on my way’ to the Oil Painters of America (OPA) Western Regional Exhibition on Saturday, October 9th.

The reception for the juried artists will be held at Mountain Trails Gallery in one of my favorite places on earth, beautiful Jackson Hole, Wyoming!  This is extra fun for me because I am also proud to be represented by Mountain Trails Gallery.

Here’s what the OPA has to say about this event:
This year’s Western Regional Exhibition & Sale is being held at the beautiful Mountain Trails Gallery in Jackson Hole, Wyoming beginning Saturday, October 9 through Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Painters of America (OPA) is a not-for-profit organization representing more than 3,200 artists throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.  OPA is dedicated to preserving and promoting excellence in traditional, representational art. Its primary focus is to draw attention to the lasting value of fine drawing, color, composition and the appreciation of light.
The paintings being exhibited in this year’s regional show have been selected from hundreds of entries and represent some of the finest work being produced in the western half of the United States, Mexico and Canada. “Every show just keeps getting better and better. I find myself more and more impressed with the work being submitted and am proud to be part of such a wonderful organization,” said executive director Kathryn Beligratis. All paintings will be for sale during the exhibition.
OPA is especially pleased to have Albert Handell OPAM presiding as this year’s Juror of Awards. Mr. Handell is best known for his plein air work and his publication, Oil Painting Workshop which is in its 6th print .
The opening reception will be held on Saturday evening, October 9th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All those interested in fine art are welcome to attend. The awards presentation will take place at approximately 6:00 p.m. at which time Mr. Handell will announce the Gold Medal winners in the Associate/Signature and Master Signature Divisions, as well as the Silver and Bronze Medal.

About Jackson Hole

Named for fur-trapper Davey Jackson, Jackson Hole, Wyoming has a long and varied history. Long-ago hunters and gatherers and eventually the Blackfeet and Shoshone Indians came to this valley and lived in the surrounding lands.
Jackson Hole, Wyoming is the “Crown Jewel” of the northern Rocky Mountains, featuring attractions like Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park, as well as area hot springs.  As a winter and summer destination, fill your Jackson Hole vacation with renowned outdoor activities.

I HOPE TO SEE SOME OF YOU AT THE ARTISTS’ RECEPTION. IF SO, PLEASE BE SURE TO SAY ‘HELLO’ TO ME! ~LORI 🙂
